white ash, Fraxinus americana, is the wood of choice for louisville slugger baseball bats, great for tool handles, lobster traps, flooring, and in the opinion of million&clark, an elegant furniture material. unfortunately, this beautiful american wood is disappearing due to an invasive beetle, the emerald ash borer. the damage of this insect rivals that of the chestnut blight or dutch elm disease and threatens to kill most ash trees throughout north america. tobyn clark mccormick built this bureau in spring 2014 for our home. made of ash with port orford cedar drawer bottoms, his t-shirts smell like the woodlands to start the day. the manner in which he played with wood grain is magic… we call it the psychedelic dream sequence.
